Tours templates

To give you some creative inspiration we've designed some templates of common tour use cases.

Announcement

Announcements can be announcing anything great — like an upcoming event, new product, or something else news-worthy. For the announcement nudge, we use a modal formfactor to grab the user’s attention.

Be careful to not over-use this form factor, as doing so can contribute to pop-up fatigue.

Product tour

A product tour is a walkthrough of a particular use case or feature in your product. For this template, we initiate two steps. The first is a popover which the user can use to opt in the nudge. The second nudge is a pin nudge, which highlights a specific part of your interface.

Note that to set the pin anchor for the second step, you’ll need to use our Chrome extension.

Feature highlights

The feature highlight is similar to a product tour, but starts with a pin nudge. This is especially useful when part of your product has changed (for example, a new page or button has been added).

Upgrade

Everybody loves an upgrade. Upgrade nudges encourage users to take that tantalizing step and “convert” — whatever that means for your product. It could mean start a free trial, or upgrade to a paid plan.

For this template we use a popover form factor.

Simple notification

This template can be used for non-critical notifications, like informing users of an upcoming maintenance period. For this template we use an unassuming popover.

User feedback

This template uses our survey block to ask users for short-form text feedback. This is especially powerful when paired with our confusion detection trigger, since it’s especially useful to gather feedback about why a user is confused in the moment when they’re experiencing confusion.

Rating

Rating also uses a survey block, this time to capture how a user feels about something — like your product, the feature they’re using or anything else.

NPS

NPS, love it or hate it, is an extremely common measure of user happiness. This template lets you quickly spin up an NPS survey. Make sure you don’t let your trigger bias your sample. For example, if you show an NPS survey to users who appear confused, you are likely to get lower rating 🙂
